The First Week of School

This week was incredibly eventful. We started off the week with haircuts for Hannah and Megan. Megan got a trim, and was amazed that her hair grew back so quickly and was just as long as before it was cut! Hannah, on the other hand, went for something a little more drastic. She has long awaited the day I would relent to cutting a true bang. She is elated with the results and you can see how cute she looks in pictures below.

Megan and Hannah both had an exciting first day of school. The was Megan's first day of school in her life and she boarded the bus like an old-timer. She didn't look back, and returned home each day this week with smiles. We celebrated the "New Year" with our neighbors who share the busstop by having a bagel breakfast in the morning, and brownies in the afternoon. Jeff provided the balloon animals which all promptly popped as soon as they touched the grass.

We had pancakes for dinner that night (exciting but FAST) and this video shows the kids recapping the day:

The big event of the weekend was Hannah's first soccer game. We were amazed at her courage on the field. She dove right in and played a fabulous first game. She worked her pigtails off in practice this week we are SO PROUD of her determination in trying something new! Even though she was one of only two new girls on the team, she volunteered during drills, did extra practice on blocking shots as a goalie, and quickly became friendly with the other girls on the team. Way to go Hannah!!

And lastly we are preparing for a garage sale. Here are pictures of Hannah and Megan with their boxes of stuff that they plan to sell. We were amuzed at the contrast--Hannah the packrat :), and Megan the entrepreneur. She had no coaching at all on her marketing. Click on the picture to read her ad slogan.
